Polar Pups

After several days of unhappy puppies each morning I discovered these girls get hot really easily.

The room I have the whelping box in gets morning sun. And even though the puppies are protected from the sun, the room does get warm pretty quickly. Not hot, just warm, about 76 degrees or so.

Well the pups don't want it above 72 and have been expressing their displeasure loudly and at great length each morning.

So now they get chilled wet wash cloths to lie on when it gets warm. The results are amazing. I can take a fussy, screaming, unhappy puppy and put her into a deep sound sleep in less than 30 seconds.

I have a feeling we'll be moving in the ice packs in a few weeks.
